Nasser bin Hamad: Establishing the Academic Excellence Authority to contribute to the exchange of knowledge among young people.

Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, affirmed that the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports seeks, through all the policies, programmes, strategies and services it provides, to inspire Bahraini youth and provide them with real opportunities to develop their capabilities and skills and work to empower them in various fields, enabling them to be the foundation and focus of development in the Kingdom. This aligns with the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, may God protect him, to rely on the skills and capabilities of youth to achieve growth for the Kingdom, amid the interest and support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, may God protect him, for Bahraini youth and providing them with opportunities as they are the pillars of the future. 

This came during His Highness Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa’s chairmanship of the 2024 Supreme Council for Youth and Sports meeting, in the presence of Their Highnesses, Excellencies, and Distinguished Members of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports.

His Highness noted that youth development is a comprehensive national effort and a fundamental pillar upon which all government and private entities are working to develop an integrated framework to support youth in the Kingdom and provide an environment in which they can showcase their creativity and become effective contributors to the Kingdom’s development. 

His Highness began the meeting by welcoming Their Highnesses, Excellencies, and Distinguished Members of the Council who extended their congratulations to His Highness the Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports on his historic achievement of winning the World Endurance Championship for the second consecutive time.

His Highness the President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports also praised the role of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of the General Sports Authority and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, and his support for the national teams to achieve sporting achievements in the recent period, including historic accomplishments and Olympic records, leading the Arab countries in the Paris 2024 Olympics, and our national basketball team achieving the title of the 17th Gulf Men’s Championship for the first time in its history. 

At the beginning of the meeting, the Hope Talents presented a detailed report on a comprehensive study conducted on a specific group of outstanding students. His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa announced the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports’ initiative to establish the Academic Excellence Authority, which includes a select group of academically outstanding students and aims to build an effective communication network that contributes to the exchange of knowledge. 

The Ministry of Labor then reviewed the latest developments in the project to identify and empower outstanding youth academically over the past fifteen years. The project was launched in accordance with the directives of His Highness the Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, and aims to invest in outstanding youth. 

The Council also reviewed the latest results of the latest edition of the Masari project, which aims to help enhance young people’s practical and academic capabilities to enter the labor market. Following the positive results, the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports directed the launch of the third edition of the Masari project.

Council members discussed developments in the Recognition of Prior Learning and Flexible Pathways project, which was implemented in implementation of the Cabinet’s mandate to prepare a proposal for calculating cumulative experience in accordance with the Education and Training Quality Authority’s strategy.

The Labour Fund “Tamkeen” also presented the Bahrain Skills Platform, which contributes to focusing on aligning education and training outcomes with labour market needs.
