Nasser bin Hamad: Embracing a select group of academically outstanding young minds

His Highness Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, and President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, affirmed that the launch of the Academic Excellence Association embodies the noble vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the esteemed King of the country, may God preserve and protect him, in supporting Bahraini youth, empowering them academically and professionally, and preparing them to be effective contributors to the continued prosperity of the nation’s renaissance toward a sustainable future.

His Highness explained that the Association represents a national strategic platform for embracing a select group of academically outstanding young minds and harnessing their potential in the fields of scientific research, innovation, and leadership. This enhances Bahrain’s competitiveness both regionally and internationally. The Authority aligns with the directives of the esteemed government, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, may God protect him, in making youth a top priority in government action.

His Highness noted that investing in national scientific competencies is an investment in Bahrain’s present and future, stressing that “youth are half of the present and all of the future.” He further stated that the Association will have a positive impact by bringing together distinguished Bahraini minds and serving as a gateway to creating meaningful impact, with a clear focus on creating an ideal environment for them to innovate and excel.

This came during the official ceremony held on the occasion of the Association’s inauguration, in the presence of Mr. Ayman bin Tawfiq Al-Moayyed, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, and Her Excellency Ms. Rawan bint Najeeb Tawfiqi, Minister of Youth Affairs, along with more than 100 outstanding students and graduates who met the Association’s admission criteria.

For his part, Mr. Abdulrahman Mohammed Al-Jallal, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Academic Excellence Association, expressed his deep gratitude and appreciation to His Highness Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa for his continuous patronage of youth initiatives. He affirmed that the Association “was launched with a vision from His Highness, aiming to be more than just an honorary initiative—rather, a youth-driven, knowledge-based platform that inspires, empowers, and creates lasting impact.”

Al-Jallal said: “Your Highness, you are the inspiration behind our thinking, a role model for our generation, and the support behind our ambition. You have taught us that excellence is not achieved through mere wishes, but seized through determination and perseverance—and that summits are not gifted, but climbed by the hands of youth who believe in their capabilities and their homeland.”

The Chairman of the Academic Excellence Association announced that its membership has now exceeded 230 members, consisting of top-ranking students in the Kingdom and graduates from the world’s top 100 universities. They have come together within this Association to dedicate their excellence in service to the Kingdom of Bahrain and contribute scientific and intellectual value befitting the nation’s ambitions.

The event also featured the unveiling of the Association’s visual identity, which strengthens its presence as a national academic community that unites the elite across various disciplines. The Association aims to promote knowledge dissemination, provide a supportive environment for scientific talents, and expand Bahraini participation in the regional and international scientific landscape.

It is noteworthy that the Association will serve as a home for minds and a national platform that embraces creativity and leadership, thereby contributing to the creation of qualitative impact that reflects the wise leadership’s vision of building a future rooted in excellence and innovation.
